Are robotic pool cleaners worth it?
Are robotic pool cleaners worth it? And if so, how much do they cost? Are there any alternatives to robotic pool cleaners? If you’re considering getting a robotic pool cleaner, then you’ve probably asked yourself these questions – and many more.
The answer depends on many factors. If you have a tiny pool and don’t mind spending hours cleaning it yourself, then a robotic pool cleaner might not seem like the best investment. However, if you don’t have time to manually clean your pool or you have a large pool, then a robotic cleaner can be incredibly useful for pool owners.
But before we get into the specifics, let’s first answer this question: What exactly is a robotic pool cleaner? And how do robotic pool cleaners work?
In a nutshell, it is an automatic device which is independent of your other pool equipment that cleans your pool by itself, by using suction to remove debris and active brushes which can scrub your entire pool floor, walls and waterline in just a couple of hours.
Swimming pools are meant to be enjoyed, not just become another household chore. With many pool cleaning options available, it can be difficult to know if investing in a robotic pool cleaner is worth it. In this article we have put together a few reasons why we think investing in a Dolphin robotic pool cleaner is the way to go.
Are Robotic Pool Cleaners Worth the Investment?
Are they worth the money? This is a question that many people ask when considering investing in one of these units. After all, robotic pool cleaners are not the cheapest option available.
To find out if a robotic pool cleaner would be suitable for you, ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you have a swimming pool that needs cleaning, but don’t want to deal with the hassle of cleaning it yourself?
- You want an easy way to keep your pool clean without having to hire and pay for extra help?
If you answered yes to these questions, here are the top four reasons why a Dolphin robotic pool cleaner will be the best piece of pool equipment you’ll ever buy:

Are There Any Other Swimming Pool Cleaning Options?
A suction pool cleaner is often seen as the most affordable option but is inefficient and expensive to operate and maintain. Traditional suction pool cleaners are like robotic pool cleaners as they work autonomously, just hook them up and they can be left to move around the pool. However, these types of automatic pool cleaners are difficult to set up and maintain, as they require being connected to your pool filter. They are also bulky and an eye sore when swimming.
A pressure pool cleaner runs on water pressure from the pump, it is like a robotic pool cleaner but only picks up large debris and it doesn’t scrub the floor. Plus, it requires an external pool pump, and a lot of electricity, making it expensive and far from energy efficient.
Let’s put aside the manual scrubbing brush as a cleaning option, which means you spend more time cleaning your swimming pool rather than enjoying it.
Dolphin robotic pool cleaning is the easiest, most efficient, and most economical solution for keeping your swimming pool clean and healthy!
How often do I need to use a robotic pool cleaner?
Every pool should be cleaned regularly once a week. We recommend you check your pool daily for any large or significant pieces of debris which can be scooped out with a simple pool net. Smaller types of debris such as algae, bacteria, and sand, accumulate over time and gather on the pool surface and walls. We recommended you activate your robotic pool cleaner to clean your pool water and surfaces at least once, or even twice a week depending on your pool usage.
Does a robotic pool cleaner help kill algae?
Effectively sanitising your pool water with chlorine or Ozone water purification, is the most effective way to prevent and kill algae and make your pool sanitary.
Pool cleaners can’t get rid of algae, but they can help prevent and remove algae. Regularly brushing your pool floor and walls helps prevent the build-up of algae. A pool robot can scrub algae which can stick to the side of your pool walls, floor and waterline, loosening it so that pool chemicals can kill it. Using advanced ultra-fine filters, the pool robot can then filter algae as small as 2 microns out of the pool water.
Can I leave a robotic pool cleaner in the pool?
Although it is safe to leave your Dolphin cleaner in the water when not in use, we do not recommend leaving your Dolphin in the pool for extended periods. We recommend taking your Dolphin out of the pool after each use to empty and rinse the filters and to rinse off any excess chemicals.
Ideally keep your Dolphin out of the pool and stored away when not in use. After each cleaning cycle, take the Dolphin robotic pool cleaner out of the water and store it away from direct sunlight, excessive heat or cold to prevent accelerated wear.
Store the Dolphin robot in a shady place ideally on a Dolphin caddy with a cover. If a caddy is not used, store the Dolphin robot upside down.
Wrap the cable carefully around the Dolphin or caddy handle, so that it does not have any kinks.
Your Dolphin won’t be effective in water which is not properly balanced. Remove the Dolphin from the pool when you are adding chemicals, until the proper chlorine, pH and salinity balances are obtained.
If your Dolphin has a weekly scheduler, you can keep it in your pool for a week, but you will need to make sure the filter is cleaned regularly.
